Elizabeth “Lisa” Klein Johnson, 66, Died; Born Westporter, Accomplished Professional

Elizabeth "Lisa" Klein Johnson, 66, died November 1, 2021, at home surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of James "Jim" Johnson. Lisa was born in Westport, CT to the late Edward Stanley Klein, Jr. and Joan (Sullivan) Klein. Her education included a Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School, an MBA in Finance from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University and a BA degree in International Relations from the University of Arizona. Lisa was the General Counsel & Co-Founder of WNG Capital, an aircraft investment company. Prior to that she served as Counsel for Deutsche Bank and before that VP & Senior Counsel for BTMU Capital Corporation, a subsidiary of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi.

Lisa enjoyed reading, music and loved her dogs which were all named after Star Trek characters. She is survived by a son, James John Johnson, Jr. of Beverly, and a sister, Susan Klein Thomas and husband Jerry Thomas of Scottsdale, AZ. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward "Ted" Klein.

Helen Maud, 81, Died; Westport Bus Monitor, Loving Grandmother

Obituary

Helen Ann (Goodwin) Maud, age 81 of Bridgeport, beloved wife of Vincent Thomas Maud, Jr., passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021.


Helen retired from Eldorado Tools, Milford and also had worked as a bus monitor for the Westport school system. Her hobbies included camping, jewelry making, and knitting. She ran the household, but in a gentle way. Helen absolutely adored her grandchildren.


In addition to her husband, Vincent, Helen is survived by her three children and their spouses, Vincent and Dodie Maud of Tennessee, Timothy and Emily Maud of West Haven and Sandy and Vinny Sferrazza of North Carolina; grandchildren Crystal Casey, Jessica Maud, Vincent M Maud, Jr., Lindsaylee Buskey-Maud, J.R. Nickelson, Cortney Hoponick, Timmy Maud, Amanda Maud, Peter Mansfield, and Evan Mansfield; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Charles, Gabriel, Vincent III, Jacob, and Abby; one sister, Estelle Mayo of Shelton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Samuel Goodwin and Howard Goodwin.


The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford. Hazel Saviano, 94, Died; Born on Roseville Road, Beloved School Bus Driver

Obituary 

Hazel Saviano, 94, of Westport passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, October 14, 2021.

Hazel was born at her childhood home on April 17, 1927. The Roseville Road residence, built in 1860, still stands today. Hazel was the daughter of the late Martha Mills and George Lewis Sr.

With roots in Westport stretching back to the mid-1800's, Hazel could recall a time when trolley cars still traversed Westport streets. With a career as a school bus driver for the town of Westport, she retired in 2003 at the age of 76, having safely delivered Westport children to and from school for over 35 years.

Her heart was big and her smile was infectious. All who knew her, loved and adored her. She was a devoted wife, mother, doting grandmother and great grandmother. Hazel was predeceased by her husband, retired Westport Police Lt. John J. Saviano Jr., her sons, John J. Saviano, III and Lawrence Saviano, and her daughter-in-law, Marlene Saviano. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Edna Call, Vera Lewis and George Lewis, Jr.


She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, daughters, Marie Richards (Robert), Melinda Bonin (Glen), Cheryl Petrone (Tom) and daughter in law, Debra Saviano. In addition, she leaves three grandchildren, Robert L. Richards Jr. (Dawn), Melissa Bailey (Ethan) and Michelle Saviano, along with her great-grandchildren, Dylan and Violet Bailey, her nephew, Charles Call, along with several other nieces and nephews.


A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Hazel's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

“Rozz” Rosemond Knudsen Romano, 86, Died; Staples Graduate, “Devoted, Selfless, and Loving”

Obituary 

Rosemond Knudsen Romano, known to most as Rozz, passed away April 9, 2020 due to COVID-19, at the age of 86.


Rozz was a devoted, selfless, & loving mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Rozz was born to Mildred & Kenneth Knudsen on Dec 11, 1933 in Tunbridge, VT. She was the former wife of Salvatore Romano. She is survived by her children Dominic (Sue), Joseph (Richard), Timothy (Annmarie) and Sally (Kevin), 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, her brother Kenneth Knudsen, sister Gloria Bentley and her longtime partner Ray LeMay, as well as many nieces and nephews.


Rozz grew up in Litchfield, CT, moved to Westport as a teen and graduated from Staples High School.


Rozz worked at Avon for over 40 yrs, was a top Sales Rep, and enjoyed the rewards of her hard work, winning trips, prizes and awards. Rozz was an avid traveler, always enjoyed a good book, and spending time with her family.


In addition to her parents, Rozz was predeceased by her sisters Katherine Rosenbeck and Anne Hoppa.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday October 30, 2021 at Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave, Westport, CT. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery, Greens Farms Rd, Westport, CT.


Services are being handled by Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, Westport, CT 06880. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made in Rozz's memory to Assumption Church or Alzheimer's Association.
